Here is the story behind these tickets…
In October of 1996, I was working as a window clerk, for the US Postal Service, in Hartford, CT.
On October 16th my Supervisor was approached by representatives of the New England Blizzard. They were in a real bind, and needed the help of the US Postal Service. Their problem was that they were 2 days away from opening night, and they hadn’t yet mailed out tickets to their season ticket holders!!! Not their fault, though.
What they needed was a postal worker who was willing to stay for several hours on October 17th and afix: proper postage, certified mail tickets, and certified mail return receipts….for literally HUNDREDS of season ticket holders. When the boss asked me if I would do it, I told her it would be my pleasure.
On the morning of October 18th (game day) the New England Blizzard Director of Ticket Sales came back to the post office to pickup all of their certified mailing receipts; and, to drop off 12 tickets to the opening night game…for ME!!!! She told me that all of the seats were DIRECTLY behind the Blizzard’s BENCH!!! I couldn’t go to the game, myself; so, I gave away 10 of the tickets to co-workers, and 2 of my family members. I kept these tickets to remind me of that experience.
