This adorable 8 inch tall golden Mohair teddy bear is made by Hermann, a well known German teddy bear maker not commonly seen here in the USA. He has brown eyes, a black horizontally stitched nose, a stitched mouth, felt paws, and is fully jointed. He has a green bowtie around his neck – this is a little frayed but easily replaceable. His head and body are firmly stuffed. He was bought in 1981 by our Mother and stored all these years with her other collectible bears – this German bear is looking for a new owner to love and care for him.
He has a red and gold paper chest tag which says “HERMANN Teddy ORIGINAL” and a golden “MOHAIR” tag attached to his chest with a plastic tie. On his right arm he has a sewn-in white cloth tag with green lettering that says “HERMANN-Teddy-Original, Made in West Germany, Outer Covering 53% Wool 47% Cotton”. I believe he is a Hermann Bear #62-20 from the 1981 inventory our Mom had but I am not 100% sure of that.
He is adorable, and in excellent condition! There are no holes, no stains and no wear on his mohair! He has never been played with or displayed. They come from a smoke free, pet free environment.
From my Ebay, Amazon, and web searches, these Hermann teddy bears are not easy to find. Not many were found on either Ebay or Amazon. To find one in such good condition is a real treasure! He would be a great addition to your Hermann or German mohair collection or would make a wonderful gift for a collector.
