SHARPAL 204N Leather Strop 8″ x 3″ Kit
Polish your knife like new
SHARPAL strop is a premium vegetable tanned hide with abrasive green compound that will put the sharpest edge possible on knives. It should be used as the final step in sharpening. The tool works by realigning the very fine edge of the blade and polishing the blades surface. After use or sharpening the blade will have a slight burr this burr is what catches when you attempt to cut. By stropping the knife the very fine edge of the blade will begin align, while the compound polished the edge.
Features
Polishing Compound
The Green Buffing Compound is ideal for a medium to fine polish. Used in conjunction with a buffing wheel for polishing jobs or leather strop for straight razors, knives and chisels these compounds will bring out a beautiful mirror finish on most metals.
Angle Guide
The angle guide with 4 universal angles-14°, 17°, 20°, 25°. Patent pending design to ensure exact angle regardless of blade size.
Non-slip Base
We installed anti-slip mats under the board to make your work easier. We use high quality rubber to make non-slip mats which give it excellent friction and durability.
Step 1. First you need to polish the polishing wax evenly on the cowhide surface.
Step 2. If you do the first step well, you will get the results in the above picture.
Step 3. As shown above, it should be drawn upward against the direction of the blade.
Step 4. You follow the third step to get your knife to the current position.
Hold the bevel against the surface of the strop with light pressure and move the blade away from the cutting edge. Turn the blade over and do the same on the other side. The process is same on any stropping surface, with or without a honing compound.
Never move the blade toward the cutting edge as it will cut into the strop, resulting in dulling of the edge and damage to the strop. A few strokes are usually sufficient. A strop is recommended to use before you even think your edge is dull. Used consistently, it is a key step in maintaining a razor sharp edge.
